Choosing Your Market Animals
Beef (steer or heifer): Typically purchased in late fall or early winter to allow for proper growth before fair season.

Lambs: Often acquired in early spring; they grow quickly and are ready for market in a few months.

Daily Care & Feeding
Beef: Requires high-quality hay, grain, clean water, and regular grooming. Average feed cost is around $1.13/lb live weight.

Lamb: Needs a balanced diet with 15–16% crude protein. Feed costs average $1.38/lb live weight.

Facilities & Equipment
Secure fencing, shelter from weather, and predator protection are essential.

You’ll need water buckets, feeders, grooming tools, and possibly a scale for weight tracking.
